Chapter 47
♡ Lauren’s POV ♡
I didn't see Magee again for the next two days. Maybe he did give up completely. I purged him from my mind. Today is the first day of summer vacation and the day to go home. I decided to take Chris with me. I didn't have the courage to face the man who had abandoned me and my mother alone.
I walked out the door with my luggage, and Chris was already waiting for me by his car. He is wearing a white shirt and a black suit today, and his hair is neatly combed. It looks very handsome.
"Wow, you look very manly today.” I jokingly looked him up and down. After these days, I can already see that he is gay. I owe it to my gay friend Simon, who made me so familiar with homosexuality.
"I'm a very dedicated actor. You're beautiful, too. If I didn't prefer boys, I'd ask you to be my girlfriend.” "He said with a smile and raised his eyebrows. He had such a charming smile that I would have flipped if I hadn't known he was gay.
When the bus started moving, I sent a text message to my mother to let her know we were leaving. When I told her I had brought a male friend back, she responded with six smiley faces. I knew she would be happy and would have my favorite cookies ready. That's what she does every time I come home. Mom makes the most delicious cookies in the world.
"We're almost there, the White House ahead.” After four hours of driving, the roadside scenery became more and more familiar. I reminded Chris that my home was right ahead.
It was a white four-story building, with a dessert shop on the ground floor, a kitchen on the second floor and rooms on the third and fourth floors. That is what my mother slowly gained by baking cakes and bread with industrious hands. Chris pulled up in front of the dessert shop. As we got out of the car, I felt a line of sight staring at me not far behind. I turned and saw nothing.
I shook my head and walked Chris into the store.
Alice at the front desk greeted me warmly, "Hi, Lauren, long time no see.” Alice has worked here for ten years and we know each other very well.
I gave her a big hug. "Alice, I Miss you so much.” She gave me a cheeky wink with a look at Chris.
"Take your boyfriend up there. They're up there.” I didn't explain my relationship with Chris. I realized that by they she meant besides mom, the man and the sister he had brought with him. I suddenly felt very nervous. The man left me and my mother for a rich girl when I was five, and I don't remember much about him.
Chris saw my nervousness, took me by the hand and led me up the stairs. When I went to the restaurant on the second floor. I recognized the man as my father at once because he had the same blond hair and Finger eyes as me. But the moment I met them, INSTEAD of happiness, I felt anger.
He was wearing a black shirt and a pair of black trousers. His daughter has brown hair, she wears a beautiful pink dress and looks about 19 years old. The two of them are sitting at the table, eating the food on the table. While my mother is still busy in the kitchen.
Anger rose from the soles of my feet to the top of my head. What do they think my mother is? Was it their servant? He came back after all these years so his mother could keep working for him? I couldn't help but think back to the man sitting on the sofa smoking as a child and resenting the fact that his mother could do nothing but cook.
Just as I was about to explode, my mother came out of the kitchen. When my mother saw me, she cried out in surprise, "Cami, you're home! ” She put her plate on the table and hugged me. At the sight of my mother, my heart softened down.
Only then did the two men notice Chris and me standing in the doorway, but the man didn't stand up. Instead, he said, "Come and eat.” It's like he owns the house. But her daughter's eyes lit up when she saw Chris. Like a bright bird, she ran over to Chris and pulled him to the table. Chris looked back at me helplessly as he was dragged away.
This sister of mine is a real pain in the neck. I was destined not to like this sister from the moment I met her.
My mother, reading my mood, winked at me and pulled me to the table. As she sat down, mom introduced her, "Cami, this is your father. This is your sister Lisa.”
"Yes, this is your sister. You need to take good care of her. We need everything to live on.” Mama just introduced me to play, said the man who claimed to be my father.
I looked at my mother in shock, unable to believe that I was going to live with them. But my mother grabbed my hand and looked at me with begging eyes. I could only suppress the anger in my heart first.
During the whole meal, no one spoke, except Lisa, who looked at Chris and laughed annoyingly. Has she never seen a man before? I couldn't help laughing at him in my mind.
Suddenly, Chris gave me a look and beckoned me to look under the table. So I dropped my fork on purpose as I crouched down to look under the table. My "cute" sister was rubbing her crystal-heeled feet against Chris's calf.
