No one knew what had gotten into Louise Bennett, but that afternoon she was practically on fire. Tasks that used to stump her suddenly felt like a breeze, and she even started tidying up her desk—a miracle in itself.
When her phone rang, she shot a glance at the clock on the wall. Whoa, almost quitting time already?
She grabbed the phone, clutching it between her shoulder and cheek while starting to pack up.
"I’ll be at your office in ten. Head down when you're ready, we'll swing by the store for groceries,” said Dominic Ellis as he drove.
"Okay," Louise replied, hanging up. She stacked her neatly sorted contracts and grabbed her bag, ready to leave.
But after two steps, she glanced back at her desk and frowned.
Something felt off. That neat, sorted layout? Definitely not her usual style. She'd always thrown things around randomly. But now everything was in perfect order, and oddly enough, it actually made her more efficient.
