"Go get that wound treated."
Jayden pulled me to my feet and led me toward the lounge, completely ignoring Louise, who stood there, frozen in place.
In a soft, hesitant voice, I murmured, "But Ms. Green…"
Jayden didn't respond. He cradled my injured hand and dressed the wound, treating it as if it were something priceless.
Louise followed us in. When she saw the scene before her, her eyes flashed with fury. "Jay, you actually left me behind? Don't expect to see me tonight."
With that, she slammed the door and stormed out. Jayden, however, didn't react at all.
"Does it still hurt?" he asked, gently blowing on my wound.
"Mr. Parker, I'm fine. You should go check on Ms. Green," I said, my voice trembling as tears gathered in my eyes. "I don't want the two of you to fall out because of me."
Jayden frowned slightly. For the first time, he truly took in my meekness and, without realizing it, began to measure it against Louise.
