The campus looks different when you’re married. Or maybe it’s me who’s different, still carrying the glow of my wedding night like a secret tucked beneath my clothes, warming me from the inside out.
The sky is gray, the buildings their same softened stone, the quad full of sleepy students holding cardboard coffee cups, but everything feels gentler, safer.
Or maybe I just feel claimed. Seen. Protected.
Speaking of, Luca walks next to me, guarding me like a handsome lion in a suit. I tell him we don’t need to hide anything anymore. Not the ring on my finger, not the faint marks that Dominic’s kisses left on my throat, not the truth of who I married. The entire world could look at me today and I don’t think I’d even blush.
