Chapter 31

"What do you want from me?" The sound is less than a whisper, but the lack of hostility, or simply the lack of the F-bomb catches his attention immediately.  "What do I want from you?" he scoffs, "I want nothing from you. It's what my friend needs from you." He moves in closer and I can feel the warmth of his breath on my cheek. "My friend needs a great, big deal from you, and the biggest one is your blood."  "My blood?" Those words haunt me. Why my blood?  Those deranged, red eyes from earlier come back. That man from the woods had blood, red eyes, immeasurable strength, and speed that I couldn't account for.  "Vampires," my body immediately recoils away from him, "you're working with vampires."
