Chapter 107
I take one last look at Carina as she walks off before I head towards the White Hills' council chambers. The winter sun burns at my eyes and I feel the onset of a splitting headache, my hand reaches up on instinct to massage away the pressure. In my other hand, my fingers wrap tightly around the documents necessary for my last meeting here before we leave. In a strange and unnatural way it almost pains me to leave this place, the knowledge that I may never have the opportunity to come back brings upon an emotion of sadness that I never thought I would feel. Especially for a pack that is not my own.
But then again, this pack does belong to me. This pack, under the Council's rule, must follow my orders or face a higher punishment that what they have already endured. I am a fool to give them their freedom to choose, I should demand they stand and fight. To fight a foe that is their enemy as much as it is ours.
The snow crunches under my feet as I ascend the stai
