As Wendy looked into his eyes, her tightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed.
"I didn't think the first thing you'd see after returning to the country would be me going through all this. I must seem pathetic, huh?" she said.
"It's not you who's pathetic." Liam gently held her hand. "It's them—those who dragged you into this mess. They're the ones who should feel remorse and pay for what they did."
In the quiet house, only Liam's calm voice echoed through the air.
