James let out a cold laugh. "That's just your view. I've never once thought about getting a divorce."
"Well, that's your problem," Wendy said, quickly losing patience. "It's obvious we can't have a real conversation. Let's not see each other again. I'll contact you in three months to finalize it at the courthouse."
She turned to leave, but James grabbed her wrist tightly.
"I said, come home with me." His tone had shifted. Gone was the composed front—his words now came out low and threatening.
Wendy's expression hardened as she struggled. "I'm not going back. Let go of me, James!"
She fought to pull away, but he only tightened his grip.
"Don't test my patience," he said coldly. "I've given you more than enough chances this past month. I overestimated your conscience and underestimated your cruelty."
He underestimated just how ruthless Wendy could be.
Her eyes snapped up to meet his. "Oh really? You think I'm cruel? You want me to just stand by and watch you fool around with Jenn
