"I know. But thanks to you being by my side, my trauma is long gone."
Wendy smiled even brighter, yet Liam could no longer meet her gaze.
He lowered his head, pretending to unlock the brake on her wheelchair as he muttered, "I'm not a psychologist."
"But you're more effective than any psychologist to me," Wendy stated candidly, completely unaware of Liam's subtle pull back.
"Is that so?" Liam sounded mildly amused as he spoke. "Then I'll help you."
Wendy quickly added, "I didn't say that just to get you to help me, you know."
"It doesn't matter. No matter what you say, I'll still help you."
As Liam stood, the way he looked at her returned to its usual seriousness and calm.
Wendy raised an eyebrow. "You don't look all that willing to help me."
"You're reading too much into it, Dr. Sanders," he replied coolly.
Wendy couldn't help but laugh upon hearing the way he addressed her. "But before we get to that, I do need one more favor from you."
"Sure." Liam nodded.
