Francis Coleman was always the diligent type. Even when others had called it a day, he kept grinding away, making sure everything Beckett assigned was handled to the letter. It wasn't until he'd wrapped up his last task that he finally headed downstairs.
Walking into the dim parking lot, Francis rubbed his eyes, fatigue showing in every move. Ever since his mom passed, his nights were haunted by bad dreams—he hadn't had a decent sleep in weeks.
Suddenly, blinding headlights beamed straight at him—brakes screeched, and before he could make sense of anything, he was shoved into a vehicle.
A rough hand clamped over his mouth and nose. Someone kicked him hard in the gut.
Pain twisted his face as the world spun, and with whatever energy he had left, he fumbled his phone and hit the last dialed number.
