Julian wasn't the kind of guy who partied often. In Pinebrook, he kept to himself and had a tight circle—tonight, he just came out alone to get drunk and blow off steam.
"Hey handsome, wanna grab a drink together?" A woman eyed him sitting solo and came over to flirt.
But Julian's mood was ice cold. You could tell from a mile away he wasn't someone to mess with. This woman, though, didn't get the memo.
"Get lost," Julian snapped, clearly fed up.
The woman's face dropped. Embarrassed, she turned on her heel and stalked off.
Julian rubbed his temple and glanced at his watch. He stood up, ready to leave.
Just bolting out like this would only make things worse. Thinking about what he'd said to Madeleine, all the crap he'd pulled... he wanted to punch himself.
