Rachel had three stitches near her hairline. Thankfully, it was hidden well enough—any scar wouldn't be too noticeable. If it had been smack on her face, that would've been a shame.
Madeleine was with her the whole time, her eyes full of worry. "Still hurt?"
Rachel glanced at her, eyes slightly red. It was obvious to her—Madeleine and Julian were good people.
But she… she definitely had a reason for getting close to Julian.
And yeah, she'd taken advantage of Madeleine's kindness.
"I'm fine," she mumbled.
"You really that short on cash? Don't work in places like that anymore," Madeleine looked pained. "Back then, I was broke too. Worked shifts at M&Y Club. I know it's sketchy—stuff like this is bound to happen if you stay. If you want out, you gotta quit."
