"If you don't make a public apology today, this isn't over," Aiden said sharply, clearly pissed off, his eyes sweeping toward Ella Hayes and Abigail.
"I'm warning you—cut it out while I'm still being civil. Don't test my patience," Clinton shot back, his tone tight but his gaze never straying from Madeleine.
Watching Madeleine chat and laugh with Beckett, cheeks flushed and expression soft, Clinton felt like something was clawing at his chest. All the possessiveness and bitterness surged up again—Madeleine was his, had been his. Didn't matter if he pushed her away; he couldn't bear seeing her with someone else. Watching her smile at another man was pure torture.
"Hah. I'm dead serious. I want both of them to apologize. Right now," Aiden said, sparing a glance at Ella. "Say it."
Ella snorted. "You? Are you serious? So what if my husband's not as successful as Beckett—he's still way out of your league. Why the hell would I apologize to you?"
