Madeleine sat next to the dining table, gripping her phone like it owed her money.
Dane Price had already called, telling her to leave it alone—let Georgia Nieves stew in there for a while.
If no one came to bail her out, she'd be sitting in the holding cell for twenty-four hours on a public disorder charge.
Fine, then. Let her sit and think about her life for once.
Not long after, her phone rang again. It was the police.
"Georgia Nieves—isn't she your mom?"
"Sorry. I don't have a mom. Got anything to prove otherwise?" Madeleine shot back.
The officer on the other end paused, clearly thrown by the drama. "Alright, we'll let her cool off in the station overnight. Just bring 500 bucks for the fine tomorrow." Then he hung up.
Madeleine finally let out a heavy breath, hand still hovering over her phone. She wanted to call Beckett.
No idea how things were going for him today at Beach Group.
But with the situation he was facing, it probably wasn't pretty.
