Company Cafeteria.
It was lunchtime, but no one bothered to call Madeleine to eat.
She was still unfamiliar with the place.
Technically, HR should've had someone show her around, but Helen Reese clearly didn't think Madeleine would last long, so she just made things harder.
"Hey, why aren't you at lunch?" A kind female employee passing by asked curiously.
Madeleine glanced at the time and lowered her voice. "Hi, could you tell me where the cafeteria is?"
The woman frowned slightly when she checked the time. "It's late already, there probably won't be much left. HR didn't give you a company tour?"
Madeleine shook her head.
"Alright, I can take you there." The woman had just taken a step toward her when someone pulled her aside.
"Why're you helping her? Don't you know she got in here through connections? Word is, she only graduated high school and even has a record—used to be a thief."
