Chapter 7

Tyler was in the hospital for a week. The day he was discharged, Annaliese sent a car to bring him home. However, as soon as he walked in, he saw Jonathan sitting in the living room in silk pajamas. Tyler's lips curled, but he went upstairs without saying anything. He was in no mood to tussle with Jonathan. The police had warned him to act casually if he wanted to rescue his child. He could not alert the enemy. He sat in the bedroom for a while when Corey suddenly walked in with a cup. Tyler's heart softened at the sight. After all, he had raised Corey for three years, and he still loved him. Corey saw him sitting there and obediently held out the cup to him. "Dad, you've been working hard lately. Have a drink." Tyler smiled and drank it all in one gulp, but he immediately sensed that something was wrong. He frowned, a look of pain on his face. "Corey, what drink did you give me?" The child grinned fiendishly. "Nothing. It's just water mixed with a few little pills. "It's your fault for kicking Mr. Geller out. Mr. Geller said that you'll get sick after drinking this. If you're sick, you won't have enough strength to chase him away!" Tyler was stunned. He looked in disbelief at the child that he had doted on for three years. How could Corey hurt his own father for an outsider? Oh, right. Tyler wasn't his real father. Jonathan was. At that thought, Tyler smiled bitterly before he fainted. He vaguely heard Corey shouting excitedly, "Mr. Geller, come quickly! Dad has fainted!" When Tyler opened his eyes once more, he was lying in the basement. It was pitch black, and all he could hear was a faint hissing noise. He felt around and turned on the light. He instantly broke out in a cold sweat from fear. There were several dozen gleaming, venomous snakes, and their red, forked tongues were flicking in and out excitedly. He backed away in fear and turned pale. At that moment, he heard Corey's childish voice. "Dad, aren't these little snakes fun?" Tyler could not answer. He reached to open the door instinctively, but it was locked, and he could not open it. In his panic, he grazed his forehead. The snakes smelled the blood at once and surrounded him immediately. Tyler had nowhere left to go, and a venomous snake bit his toe. As its sharp fangs sank into his flesh, he began sweating from the pain. A second snake slithered over, then a third and a fourth. The spot where he had been bitten turned red, then purple. Tyler's lips were gradually becoming pale. At that moment, the butler shouted anxiously, "Mr. Geller, let Mr. Stone out! He'll die!" Jonathan's lip curled, and he crouched down to put an arm around Corey. He asked, "What do you think, Corey? Should we let your dad out?" "No!" Corey turned around and yelled at the butler, "Dad will chase Mr. Geller out if he comes out! I don't want Mr. Geller to leave!" Upon hearing this, Tyler felt despair. He was covered in wounds already. Corey had been the only thing that he had any lingering feelings for, but now there was no longer any need for that. Tyler felt as if he was about to die. Suddenly, the door to the basement banged open. Through blurred vision, Tyler saw Amaris running frantically toward him. When he woke up again, he was back in the hospital. Amaris wasn't the only one standing beside him. There was also a little boy. Tyler stared dazedly at the child and turned to look at Amaris, and he immediately understood. His child was back. His child was finally back! Tyler shed tears of happiness and held the child tightly. He did not let go for a long time. Two days later, Amaris put Tyler and his child on a plane to Paxia. Before they left, Amaris looked fondly at him. "Go on. Take the child away from this troubled place. Leave the rest to me." Tyler nodded with tears in his eyes. He took the child's hand and got on the plane without looking back.
