Chapter 514 We’re Friends After All

“Do you think Lucius will file a police report in the future? After all, you beat him up really badly,” asked Faye worriedly on their way home. Zayn then said, “He won’t. I’m sorry for always causing you trouble.” Faced with Faye’s sudden seriousness which felt unfamiliar, Zayn broke into a slightly wry smile as he said, “Why are you being so polite all of a sudden? We’re a m—” When he said that, Zayn realized that something was wrong and shoved the word “married couple” back down his throat and said something else instead, “We’re friends, after all, so I can’t possibly leave you alone when you’re in trouble now, can I?” Faye then chewed on her lip even harder as she released a faint sigh. Then, she said, “You’re right. We are friends…” Both of them fell silent at the same time, and Zayn spoke up after a moment, “It’s getting late. Let’s get some rest. We’ve still got to work tomorrow.” “Yes, alright.” After she said that, they each returned to their own rooms. When they had both retired to their own rooms and closed the door, they lay against their door and stood still for a good few minutes… Then, Zayn went to take a shower. ‘So many things have happened today. Plus, Zayn’s room had a decent soundproof system, hence if it was not because his ears were sharp enough, it would not have been possible for him to notice such soft footsteps!
