It had been a very long time since Faye encountered such an embarrassing situation, and she did not wish to remain there for another moment. She regretted going very much. If she had known what kind of gathering it was, she would never have agreed to come. She was tricked. She watched the mass of men and women gathered there with their arms wrapped around each other and engaging in behavior she found outrageous. She could do nothing to keep her face from going red. She had never felt so uncomfortable! She had gone there that night at the behest of an important customer. She never would have come if she had been warned about what it was going to be like. The customer was the stockholder of a renovation contractor and a close collaborator with Neotech Lighting Co. She was good friends with Faye and they would frequently address each other as besties. Faye thought she was a virtuous, law-abiding woman, so she never expected this customer would have a completely different side to her. She was actually cheating on her husband behind his back! She was already married and her child was going to enter junior high soon. Meanwhile, she was with other men doing all sorts of intimate acts and conversing with them crudely. Had Faye not witnessed it with her own eyes, she would not have believed that this was true! “Hey! Faye, I was just asking about you. I haven’t seen you all night long. Turns out you’re here.” Faye had just ended the phone call with Zayn when a voice came from behind her. Moreover, an arm was wrapped around her waist and she could feel their breath next to her ear. I’m very ticklish.” Faye said in an uneasy tone, hastily moving away from Miranda. Miranda was a middle-aged woman around 40 years old. She was already slightly out of shape and had begun to gain the extra weight that tended to come with middle age. She could not help being envious and jealous of Faye when she saw how young, slim, and beautiful she was. She said, “Faye, I looked about the same as you 20 years ago. I had a good figure and looked pretty. My skin was unblemished and youthful. What a shame that time and tide wait for no man.” Faye could only let out a forced chuckle upon hearing that. She said, “You’re still young, Miranda, and you still look really fit.” Miranda appeared to be relieved when she heard Faye’s flattery. She waved her hand dismissively and said, “Let’s not talk about this anymore and have fun instead. It’s very rare for this gathering to take place. Lots of desirable and good-looking men are here and they can’t take their eyes off you, especially Lucius. He is one of the stockholders of Eilam Realty. He is young, rich, and handsome. He is famous in our social circle and very in demand. Many are trying to tempt him already.” As Miranda spoke, she was pointing at a man standing in the hall. He was dressed in a white suit and his hair was combed impeccably. He was handsome, tall, and lean, so he could be described as a picture-perfect man. Faye had no choice but to acknowledge that Lucius was quite charming after seeing him. His presence had a lethal effect on women. However, Faye did not find him to be that attractive. “Miranda, I’m married,” said Faye softly. Miranda sniggered and said in a carefree manner, “Take a look around. Which one of the women here is not married? The vast majority of them have children too, and yet they still came to have fun. Let alone having children, there are many more who are out enjoying themselves even after having grandchildren. What’s the point of life if wealthy women like us won’t come out to have a good time? In addition, who made the rule that only men are allowed to have fun and not women? Faye, I can tell you’re a nice person and that’s why I brought you into this circle. Don’t you dare spurn my kind intentions.” Upon hearing her remarks, Faye was about to have a mental breakdown and regretted coming even more. Why did she agree to come to this place with Miranda?!
