Chapter 494 Kick The Prisoner—A Classic Move!

Vulcan had lost all manners of that holy, out-of-this-world aura about him; he no longer had the look of a higher being gazing upon his mortal inferiors. By now, he looked no different from a human prisoner—or if one wanted to be more accurate, a pauper. His clothes were dirty, torn, and bloodied. His every breath sounded like it was his last. When his eyes found Zayn peering at him, they darted in panic, though they quickly darkened into a sort of bleak, abysmal color of fear. Zayn curled his lips into a cryptic, meaningful smile. Turning to Gordon, he remarked, “You guys really fixed him hard, didn’t you?” “S-Sir, he looked like he was trying to escape, so we did a little something to frustrate his plan,” Gordon explained quickly. “Don’t worry about it, sir. Our people know their limits. All they wanted to do was to make him taste a little bit of physical anguish… he’s definitely not suffering from any life-threatening complications!” He sounded frantic—almost as if he was worried about something wrong. When he was told to take this man into custody, Zayn had given him no information to work on, nor did he give him the man’s background or how to deal with him. Gordon had no clue about it either, so he worked out a theory from how badly bruised and beaten-up Vulcan looked. He thought Vulcan’s state made him Zayn’s prisoner, so when the man expressed an inclination to escape, Gordon immediately ordered his men to teach Vulcan a little lesson—a “little,” nothing more. Zayn sighed, which frightened Gordon even more. The older man was just about to apologize when the former explained, “You’ve been too kind to him, man. This can’t hurt him at all.” Zayn suddenly swung his leg. Vulcan’s pupils constricted and zeroed in on the movement, his muscles tensing for the attack. He moved to evade him, showcasing his dexterity, and yet Zayn was unsurprisingly faster than him. The kick landed right on Vulcan’s torso, sending him backward and crashing onto the wall behind him like a soccer ball striking a goal. He sputtered and spewed a mouthful of blood. “You gotta do it like what I showed you to really hurt him, you know. Anything less, and he’ll find them ticklish at best,” Zayn continued, smiling. Gordon was, once again, stunned and bemused. When he finally recovered, he gulped hard and looked at Zayn with a different gaze—one that was imbued with even more fear. He had known that Zayn Larson was no simple man. For one, he was the chairman of Violet Vision, a billionaire who was worth at least several billion dollars, and was somehow close to the King of the Underworld. But he had not known that the man could fight so well… and so brutally, too. At that moment, he felt as though he was gazing upon a god amongst men. The chairman was not to be crossed nor objected. “Right, u-understood!” Gordon said, nodding one too many times. “Your sagacious guidance is very much appreciated, sir!” Zayn walked toward Vulcan with a cheery smile, as though he was just visiting his dear friend. “You’re recovering from your injuries already? God, you’re fast, Vulcan! I was almost fooled by it all! Had I come any later, I bet you’ve already escaped.” A man of apparent musculature suddenly butted in from beside him, “No way that’s gonna happen. Me and the boys keep an eye on him 24/7. There’s no way he could escape us!” “Yea, especially when he’s this scrawny and so gravely-injured. How’s somebody like that supposed to run? What is he, a super-dude?” Another one chimed in, his upset undertone a little too obvious. To them, Zayn was basically doubting their abilities. Seeing his minions going against Zayn right on his face enraged Gordon enough to slap both of them right there and then. “Shut the f**k up, you idiots! What makes you muscleheads think you can doubt the chairman’s words, huh? I wanna hear an apology right now!” It was apparent that they were afraid of Gordon, because they dared not say anything against him despite the man’s sudden wallops. They hung their heads and apologized to Zayn, though it was evident that they found it unwarranted. Gordon was beyond furious by their attitudes, especially since he was afraid that their actions were going to cross Zayn. Before he could punish them again, however, Zayn stopped him. “It’s alright. They’ve never seen Vulcan in action—wouldn’t be surprised if they’re skeptical.”
