I may have lied to you
LESLIE’S POV
The hallways were empty as I barreled through, running to make it to my first class. I had History with Mr. Hartridge and he’s had a beef with me since I was in tenth grade and I corrected him in front of the whole class. I ran into the class, just in time for him to call my name for attendance.
“Leslie Brooke?” he called, turning his head to look at me.
I was sweaty and panting, holding onto my knees to catch my breath. “I’m here, I’m here.” I replied, my skin prickling. Everyone was staring at me, anything they’d been doing long forgotten once I entered.
He looked at me through his monocle, his face anything but impressed by my entrance. “With seconds to spare. Take a seat, since you didn’t care to make it to school on time,” he commented, looking down at his clipboard and dismissing me.
I exhaled quietly and looked around the room. Ilyssa waved at me and pointed at the empty seat next to her. I quickly ducked my head and reached her, slipping into the space next to her.
