When Riley retrieved the phone from the trash can, Meredith's face turned ashen.
No one knew Adonis' nature better than she did. If he said he was letting go completely, he meant every word of it. No matter who spoke to him—be it Meredith or his deceased parents—no one could change his mind once he had decided on it.
The faint hope she had been clinging to shattered, leaving only emptiness in its place.
The airport was busy with people coming and going everywhere. Some left hand in hand, while others waved tearful goodbyes. But Meredith stood there alone, motionless amidst the bustling crowd. She felt lost and was unsure of where to go.
Should she go back? But she didn't want to give up so easily.
Should she go and see Adonis, then? She was terrified of hearing him say goodbye with finality.
Meredith had arrived at a dilemma that she couldn't resolve. She couldn't decide whether to stay or leave nor could she decide whether to see Adonis.
