Chapter 395
Prescott Ellington held Lottie with one arm, gently wiping away her tears with the other. But the more he wiped, the faster her tears fell, making his heart ache even more.
His voice softened, full of patience. “Alright, sweetheart, don’t cry. Daddy will call Mommy for you right now.”
As he reached for his phone with one hand, Lottie suddenly grabbed his sleeve.
He looked down slightly. “Hmm? You don’t want to call Mommy?”
Lottie sniffled, her voice hoarse and barely above a whisper. “Daddy… Lottie doesn’t miss Mommy right now. Let’s not call her.”
She had promised Mommy she’d be a good girl. Mommy had just left, and here she was already crying—definitely not a good kid.
“Okay, whatever my little girl wants.” Prescott felt a twinge in his chest.
He recalled how back in Nerehaven, Dorian Harrington had lifted Lottie up high, and she had giggled so happily—it had stuck with him.
So he leaned down slightly. “Lottie, wanna play that ‘flying in the sky’ game?”
