Chapter 9
"Calla you have got to stop running off! I promised your dad you would be safe with me at the park!" She scolded. "I'm so sorry about the burden." The lady breathed out on a sigh. I immediately decided I didn't like the old hag at all. If she thought this rare little ray of sunshine was a burden then she didn't deserve to spend time with her.
"Of course not! She's been nothing but an absolute joy." I insisted before turning my attention back towards Calla before squatting down. "Those flowers are yours to keep, okay honey? When you get home, make sure you put them in a cup of water so they stay nice and pretty. And you come and visit me here whenever you want." I told her before smoothing down her stray wisps of hair. She nodded in understanding before hugging me so tightly I almost choked.
Eyeing the grey-haired woman once again, I saw her looking at me in amazement. I just raised a single brow at her in question as Calla meandered over to where she was stand
