Chapter 54 Drop the Act
Penelope froze where she stood. Her eyes widened in shock, and she staggered back, almost losing her footing.
She wasn't the real Dr. Lena, but she'd gotten Christopher's medical file a long time ago.
It clearly stated organ failure and severe depletion. Even the top specialists had said there was nothing they could do and that Christopher wouldn't last more than three days.
And yet, this young woman had actually woken him up.
She couldn't accept it. She kept mumbling, "No way. That's impossible… The file said he was beyond saving. How could you have treated him?"
Magnolia finally snapped back to her senses. All her suspicion and hostility toward Madeline vanished, replaced by pure fear at what could have happened.
She hurried over, grabbed Madeline's hand, and apologized over and over. "Ms. Jillard, I'm so sorry. I was blind. I trusted a fraud!"
