Chapter 48 Maddie Waited for You for So Long
"Silly Maddie, an emerald bracelet is meant to be worn. Don't you worry about damaging it!" Eleanor tugged at Madeline's hand, her tone carrying a hint of gentle dominance.
"When we get home, I'll find you a sturdier one—one that won't break no matter how much it's bumped. You must wear it with you at all times then. I insist!"
Unable to decline Eleanor's affection, Madeline nodded obediently. "Okay. I'll do exactly that, Mrs. Jameson Senior."
Eleanor's face immediately lit up with joy. Still holding Madeline's hand, she launched into her endless chit-chat—asking whether she had been eating well, whether she had been resting properly—her eyes filled with doting care.
Madeline listened patiently, nodding from time to time, a gentle smile playing on her lips.
The air in the ward was warm and harmonious.
When Samuel arrived and pushed the door open, this was the scene that greeted him.
Sunlight streamed in through the window, falling on Madeline and casting a soft halo around her.
