Chapter 68
The moment the words left my mouth, I snapped back to reality. I clamped a hand over my lips, wishing I could somehow shove that sentence back down my throat.
Felix pressed a kiss into my damp hair and chuckled. "You said it, not me. A lifetime for a trade—can't back out now, not even for a day."
I mumbled a weak "okay," thinking, "Let's see you talk about forever again when Helen comes back."
Still, I couldn't deny this heavy feeling in my chest. Maybe it was the warm water, or maybe I'd just been soaking for ages.
"I'm done. Go ahead and shower," I said, getting out quickly.
Behind me, Felix called out, "Wait, let me dry your hair."
I didn't turn back. "I'll do it myself," came my answer as I practically bolted out the door.
The sound of running water echoed behind me as Felix turned on the shower. Through the frosted glass, I caught a glimpse of his lean, sculpted frame. I quickly looked away, silently cursing myself.
I should get it together. It was just a body. It wasn't
