Chapter 1187

Samantha offered, "I'll help you pack later." *** After lunch, Samantha went to the room to pack Adrian's luggage. Songton was more than a thousand kilometers away and he was going to be there for a few days, so she packed more clothes. Just as she was packing, Adrian walked in and hugged her from behind. After a slight startle, Samantha nuzzled Adrian's face. "What's the matter?" He nibbled on her ear and held her tightly in his arms. "The new legate will represent our future, so I can't let it proceed unattended. Once it’s over, I'll come home and accompany you for some time." Samantha was, of course, able to read between the lines when Adrian said “some time.” She wrapped her arms around his neck and grunted, "And where will you be going after some time? Are you going to leave me at home again?" Adrian pondered for a moment. "Nicholas and I will be going to the Uduma Desert and the snowy mountains in Mount Shangspar next February to investigate the truth about Partingia and Gostia. The two ancient countries have some sort of connection to this world's livelihood. We'll be in huge trouble if the outlanders get ahold of their technologies." Samantha had never heard of either country before and was instantly confused. "Partingia? Gostia? Where’s that? I've never heard of them before. I’ve not read about them in history books either." "They exist. They mastered the information of Isle 416's meteorites and the worms inside of them long ago. Gostia utilizes these worms to form an army of mutants to fight for them. It was Nicholas who found the antidote to Gloria's illness from the mountain and the desert." Samantha was shocked. "Really? The meteorites have existed for thousands of years?" Adrian nodded solemnly. "Yes, they have. Thus, I need to go to Mount Shangspar and get to the bottom of this. I'm going to destroy whatever traces of technology Gostia and Partingia left behind so that nothing bad happens in the future." Samantha sighed. "You're always thinking about others… It’ll be a hundred years into the future even if the outlanders get their hands on that technology and its secrets. What does it have to do with us?" Adrian smiled. "Silly girl. We may not be around when that happens, but our grandchildren will be. Do you want to see them bullied or even slaughtered a hundred years from now? We are going to have a son in the future.” Samantha chuckled as she blushed. "Who says I'm going to bear you a son? You have no idea how much I suffered while carrying Nova. Men will never understand how painful labor is.." "Then you should have Nova make it up to you in the future." Adrian smiled. "Why can't it be you instead?" Samantha rolled her eyes. She then added, "I should thank you on behalf of our grandchildren for thinking about their well-being before they've even been born. You're literally the best grandfather in the world." She smiled. "Fine, go do whatever you need to do and come home to me after it's done. After all, I've grown used to you not being around."
