Chapter 1155
Wyvern Peak was currently managed by the ten elders, who, albeit outstanding military strategists, were not qualified leaders. Wyvern Peak lacked a legate who could lead all its soldiers to victory. Since Adrian’s retirement, Wyvern Peak was in need of young individuals with skills to contribute and revitalize the organization.
Adrian said without any hesitation, “Though Wyvern Peak can’t be shaken within a short period, the organization will weaken if left without a leader for a long time. Luposia is keeping a close watch on the border. Crystal is right. I too believe that we should push forward the selection.”
Brett nodded. “Her Majesty and the elders thought so too and wanted your opinion, sir. If you are agreeable, they’ll make the necessary arrangements on their side.”
Adrian did not dismiss the idea. “Okay. Pass the message to Navia and tell them that the selection can be pushed forward. But make sure that the preparations and precautions are comprehensive. No error should occur during the selection tests. Once the date is set, I’ll head to the venue to personally choose the next legate.”
“Yes, sir.” Brett felt emotional. He hastily said, “I’ll pass the message to Navia so they can make the necessary preparations right away.”
Adrian nodded. “Perform the tests as per the procedure. The selection will not only be to select the legate but also the elite members of Wyvern Peak. We’ll need to make some adjustments to the ten battle warriors. I’ll be there to make arrangements for this matter in person by then.”
“Okay, sir.”
“Go and pass on the message. Inform Novemton that I’ll be back within half a month.”
“Yes, sir.” Brett left excitedly.
Nicholas looked toward Adrian and said, “Do you really have no plans on holding onto your position as legate? I’m sure you know that countless people throughout history have yearned for this position.”
Adrian smiled at Nicholas and said, “I’m already past my golden era. I should give a chance to other passionate people. Also, my body isn’t what it used to be anymore. My reaction time is much slower now than before.”
He had mentioned that the best age was when one was about eighteen more than once. After that age, a person’s physical qualities would start to deteriorate. Even though the deterioration was not visible to the eyes, a delayed reaction of just one second was enough to affect one’s judgment of the overall situation. Adrian did not have the capability to lead Wyvern Peak anymore.
“I’ll give you a prescription later. Take the medicine when you get back. It’ll slow the deterioration of your body. I have observed you for some time, and I can tell that you overtaxed your body when you were young. Your body has surpassed the limits it can endure. On top of that, you sleep late, have suffered injuries, and many other factors. Your body will deteriorate significantly by the time you’re forty. You might not even live past that,” said Nicholas with certainty.
Adrian chuckled. “The average lifespan of a legate is about thirty years old, and I’m twenty-seven this year. Forty is considered rather long according to the average lifespan.”
Nicholas smiled.
Lacey stood up and said, “You guys talk. I’m going to check on Gloria.”
Adrian and Nicholas fell into a smooth conversation and became fast friends as if they were old buddies who had not met in a long time.

Meanwhile in Novemton’s headquarters, Crystal, the elders, and the battle warriors were making arrangements with Wyvern Peak to bring forward the legate selection.
Headquarters received word from Brett as well. A woman walked into the room and said to Crystal, “Your Majesty, we just received Brett’s call. He has notified Draco on this matter and he has agreed to push forward the selection. He reminded us to keep a close eye on the matter and not allow any errors during the process.”
