Xavier had been watching Scarlett with quiet affection as she worked through her problems. But when he noticed her frown in frustration and scribbled noisily on the rough paper, he leaned in to see what had her stuck.
"You got this part wrong. Check again," he said. "Your method's off. Try using Stokes' theorem here. Hand me a pen."
He picked up the pen and rough paper, then began guiding her through the solution.
Scarlett stared at him, shocked by how easily he cleared her confusion.
Lately, she had been tackling advanced problems. Each one typically took her at least 30 minutes to solve, sometimes even over an hour. The one she was struggling with now would've easily taken just as much time.
