Chapter 2056

She never thought that there would be a day when she would feel warmed by a child. Tears pricked Shirley’s eyes, as she held Lillian's hand. “Thank you, Lily. I will be happy, and you must be happy too. I believe that you will be reunited with your parents soon.” As she spoke, she suddenly remembered something and then immediately took out the phone from her pocket. Shirley wanted to mute the phone, but then she realized that Madeline had already muted the phone when she handed it to her. Her worry just now was unnecessary. Since she did not have a charger, she put it on low power mode to prevent the battery from running out when she needed it. However, when she saw the family portrait on the lock screen, envy started to pour out from Shirley’s eyes against her volition. What a happy picture of a family of five. If possible, she also hoped to have such a complete and happy family in her next life. After leaving the hotel, Madeline stood at the entrance of the hotel for a while. When she was about to leave, Fabian suddenly appeared in front of her. She had not expected Fabian to still be following her. “Lily is in this hotel, isn’t she?” Fabian asked with an anxious look. “Which room Carter has Lily locked in? Please tell me.” “Fabian, I know you are also very worried about Lily's safety. I’m just like you, so we can't act rashly. If you recklessly bring people up there to rescue Lily, I'm afraid something bad will happen,” Madeline patiently persuaded. “We should leave first.” Somewhat dissatisfied, Fabian lingered by the entrance of the hotel for a while. In the end, he followed Madeline’s advice and left. In the car, he explained a situation to Madeline. “Jeremy called me just now, so I prevaricated,” he said, handing his phone over to Madeline. Madeline saw the messages that Fabian and Jeremy had sent back and forth. He truly cared about her and the child. However, Madeline had given Shirley her phone, so at the present, she could only use Fabian's phone. The call quickly connected, and Jeremy's tone was full of concern and eagerness. “Linnie, is there something wrong with Lily's physical condition? Why do you keep ignoring my calls and calling me back with Fabian's phone?” “I left my phone at where I stayed last night. I'll look for it later.” Madeline had to make up an excuse. “Jeremy, sorry for making you worry.” After listening to Madeline's explanation, Jeremy did not think much about it and felt relieved instead. “It's fine, Linnie. What about Lily? How is she? Will Fabian let you bring Lily back?” “He will,” Madeline said confidently and glanced at Fabian. “Jeremy, just wait for me for a few days, and I’ll definitely take Lily home. There’s an incoming call, I have to return the phone to Fabian now. We’ll talk later.” Before Jeremy could ask anything, Madeline hung up the phone with a guilty conscience. Tired, Madeline returned the phone to Fabian and leaned back onto the seat. Even the sight of the quick-moving scenery outside the window did not lift her spirits. “Did you come to F Country to negotiate with me about bringing Lily home?” Fabian asked as he looked at Madeline who had a cold expression on her face. Madeline curled her lips. “How would a child’s parents not worry about and miss their child? But now I realized that Lily has gotten better care while she’s with you.” “If you really think that way, then I insist on keeping Lily with me so that I can care for her, Eveline.” Fabian’s words stunned and surprised Madeline. She lifted her eyes and looked at Fabian who had a serious expression with a look of disbelief. “What do you mean by that?”
