Chapter 157
Stella stood in front of the baggage carousel, exhausted from the long flight. After all, she was pregnant. Dr. Reed had gone to pick up the rental car, leaving her to wait alone.
"Ma'am, do you need any help?" a nearby airport staff member asked with concern.
Stella shook her head slightly, but then a wave of dizziness hit her. She grabbed the railing for support as her vision darkened.
Before she could react, an arm steadied her by the shoulder.
That scent—faint cedarwood cologne, so familiar.
Stella tensed instantly. She didn't need to look to know who it was.
"You really don't take care of yourself, do you?" Charles's voice came from above her, rougher than she remembered.
Stella jerked away from him, nearly stumbling as she turned. He reached out quickly to steady her by the waist but abruptly pulled his hand back when it brushed her baby bump, as if burned.
