Chapter 699

There was a black-colored python about the width of an arm snaking itself around the small tree, and there was a rooster that was so frightened by it that it hid in the corner and spread out its wings in a defensive position. The python then slid down from the tree into the corner and bit onto the rooster's head before wrapping its length around the rooster. Within the grasp of the python, the rooster struggled and fought for its life to escape. However, because it was all wrapped up by the python, the rooster soon lost its breath after a few minutes of struggling. Soon after, the python began to swallow the rooster, pushing the rooster from its mouth toward the end of its slim length. Next to the glass terrarium were two people facing each other. One of them was an old man who looked around 67 years old, and he had half a head of white hair. The old man had sagging eyelids as well, and his eyebags were as prominent as a frog's. He was watching the snake and the rooster with much interest. Next to him was a young man, who had his back slightly bowed toward the old man. Half an hour later, the python had finally swallowed the whole of the rooster, and the middle of the snake's slim body had an obvious bulge that grew thicker than the head and ends of its tail. It was a pretty odd sight to see. Then, the old man said to the young man, asking, "Do you know what I named my python?" The young man was a little curious and asked, "What is it?" Immediately, the old man's eyes lit up as he announced, "I call him Hydra, short for Hydra of the East!" Then, the young man frowned. Hydra of the East was a deity, and it seemed a little offensive to name a python after the eight-headed serpent deity. But the old man continued, "My Hydra loves eating roosters. Ha ha ha! I'm training it to eat things that are several times larger than its size. As long as you're brave enough, and your teeth sharp enough, it's not impossible to swallow a giant!" The old man seemed pretty worked up over his words, and his pitch became much higher from excitement. All of a sudden, as if he had thought of something, the young man became excited as well. "Mr. Kaiser, I finally understand what you mean! Let me bring you some great news. We're seeing some results from our research, and we finally made it through protein fusion." Alvin Kaiser, the old man, was stunned upon hearing it. Then, he held onto the young man's hand excitedly, saying, "You're saying that we can finally fuse the AIDS and Influenza virus together?" The young man then replied just as excitedly, "That's right. We also came up with a new name for the virus made with the AIDS and Influenza virus. It's called 'Retribution', but after seeing your python, I decided to call it 'Hydra's Retribution' instead." Upon hearing that, Alvin said excitedly, "'Hydra's Retribution'? That sounds great! Now that we've created such a thing, we'll be unstoppable! "There's 1.4 billion people across this country that measures 2.37 billion acres. As long as I break a glass filled with Hydra's Retribution in the supermarket, train, or even on the plane, we'll be able to wipe out the entire country." After Alvin had spoken, he began to pace about in the office, walking back and forth since he didn't know how he should express his elation. While he was doing so, he muttered under his breath, "Ha ha ha! Eastoria boasts fertile lands, vast plains, and rich resources on the highlands, all surrounded by stunning mountains and rivers. "Oh, let's not forget the endless desert too. These are all wealth and blessings. Ha ha ha! They belong to us now! As long as we have these riches in our hands, we'll be able to take a step closer to controlling the world! "Hahaha! The day has finally arrived! I've been waiting so damn long for this day to arrive." Afterward, Alvin stopped pacing and asked the young man, "How are you supposed to transmit Hydra's Retribution? Is it an airborne virus? How long can it survive out in the air?" Upon getting questioned, the young man's face darkened a little. "I'm afraid that wouldn't be good news." But Alvin smiled and said, "Just say it. It's fine as long as we can use it—it doesn't matter if it lasts for only an hour!" Then, the young man replied with a bitter expression, "Hydra's Retribution can only survive for 100 milliseconds after leaving a carrier's mouth!" Having heard his reply, Alvin stood frozen in place. 100 milliseconds equaled to only a tenth of a second, and even blinking once took about a second. This also meant that the virus could only survive in the air for as long as a tenth of the time a person blinks! Thinking of that, Alvin boiled up in rage. "You fucking call this good news? It's only a tenth of a second, which basically means that it disappears as soon as it leaves the carrier's mouth! "How is that any different from the initial transmission of AIDS, which requires an individual to come in contact with the other's body fluids?"
