Chapter 63 Scapegoat
"Grandma!" Luther shouted.
"Don't call me that! I have no grandson as heartless as you!"
The two of them were locked in a standoff, and the air around them began to feel suffocating.
Luther saw the determined look in Colette's eyes and knew she was dead serious. He shut his eyes, his chest rising and falling violently. After a long silence, he forced out the words through clenched teeth.
"Fine. I agree."
Outside the door, Natasha leaned against the cold wall, drinking in every word.
Cressida was getting half of Luther's fortune?
That wretched woman! On what grounds?
Jealousy burned through her. She couldn't allow this to happen.
She schooled her face, arranging her features into a fragile mask of sorrow and helplessness.
When the door flew open and Luther stormed out angrily, the first thing he saw was Natasha, eyes reddened, standing as though on the edge of collapse.
Somehow, the fire in his chest dimmed. Guilt slid in to take its place.
