"Mr. Strudwick," Tristan began, breaking the suffocating tension between them. "If you're done here, you can leave."
It wasn't a request but an order. Luther's body trembled slightly. He cast one last glance at Cressida, then spun around and strode down the hallway.
Silence finally reclaimed the hallway.
She stepped out from behind Tristan, leaving just enough space between them. As she turned to leave, she said, "Mind your own business."
"The men who abducted you on two separate occasions," he said calmly behind her. "I've tracked down a few leads and gathered some evidence. Want to hear about it?"
She stopped in her tracks and slowly turned around to face him. The banquet hall light spilled down the hallway, casting a soft, hazy glow around him that hid his expression.
Tristan was always cold and aloof, yet somehow, he always had what she needed and used it to manipulate her into approaching him. It only made her more wary of him.
