Waking from the confession
Lilith’s pov
“I love you”
I wasn’t sure I was doing the right thing. I was, and still remain Lucien’s property, but I let those words slip through. Damien didn’t move. Not an inch.
He was probably dumbfounded by my new found courage. The audacity to breathe such words without biting a lip. Like I’d forgotten whom I belong to.
But I was serious. I meant every word. My body may belong to his ruthless brother, Lucien, but my heart belongs to him. I wanted him to respond in a like manner. I wanted him to hold me. I wanted him to kiss my head and assure me that he loves me more.
But as he leaned forward; a voice yelled ‘Mine!’ from a distance.
I veered to confront that voice. The slave master’s voice. The voice that steeped my existence in fear. But the weight of it and the grip it held to my soul pressed me to my knees.
I screamed for help. Lucien was approaching, gun in one hand and cigar in the other. A wicked smile played on his lips. And his eyes glared with hate and malice.
