Chapter 20
Spencer's return flight landed on time, and he got into the car that Peter had sent. The vehicle traveled smoothly down familiar streets, but he didn't feel even remotely happy.
Every corner of this city held traces of Elizabeth. On the corner stood a high-end restaurant where Spencer had once taken her to celebrate her birthday. With a little encouragement from the band, they had even shared a kiss.
They had also often strolled across the big bridge by the river. During winter, Spencer would put Elizabeth's hands in his pockets to warm them. She would smile and kiss his cheek in return.
All the times they had spent together were deeply etched in his mind. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't erase them.
