Chapter 85
Evelyn's POV
"You never remarried, did you?"
My throat tightened as I clutched the towel closer to my body. Water dripped from my hair, creating little puddles on the bathroom floor between us. The small space suddenly felt even more confined with his intense presence.
"Does my marital status concern you anymore?" I replied coldly, giving him a dismissive glance before attempting to move past him toward the door.
Through the frosted glass, the silhouettes of three little troublemakers were clearly visible, huddled together and no doubt plotting their next scheme.
I knocked firmly on the door. "Rowan, Rhys, open this door right now, or Mommy will be very upset."
The threat in my voice was unmistakable. I heard hurried whispers and shuffling feet as my twin boys immediately lost their courage.
Five minutes later, I sat properly dressed in the living room, looking at my two sons standing before me with bowed heads.
"We're sorry, Mom. We know we did wrong," they said in unison.
