ELIZA’S POV
I laid on the bed, eyes wide open, tangled in the sheets I hadn’t even moved from all night.
I couldn’t stop thinking of Alexander.
He was avoiding me. I knew it. My heart knew it.
And even though I kept trying to rationalize it, to tell myself I was overthinking… I knew the truth.
First, it was the training schedule.
He’d suddenly switched his times, saying he needed to “train with the elites separately,” but I’d always been there with him before.
Then came the subtle things: the way he walked past me in the corridor without even a glance, how he never answered my messages until hours later, if at all.
He barely slept in our room anymore.
My wolf shifted restlessly inside me, sensing my pain. She whimpered low. She missed her mate so much. So did I.
My wolf whispered a name, one I didn’t want to hear.
Isabella.
I sat up, hugging my knees, resting my chin on top. I could still hear her voice that night she’d made her “proposal”—or rather, her demand.
