Chapter 531
Jessie, with her proud and haughty personality, didn't back down from Margot's anger. "This is Cyrus' place. I'm here as a patient. What's your problem?"
"If you're a patient, go to the ward downstairs. I don't want to see you here," Margot snapped back.
The Foster family had suffered greatly because of the Sykes family, so it was natural for Margot to harbor resentment toward Jessie.
However, Jessie was unaware of the Sykes family's dirty deeds.
As a member of the younger generation, Jessie would not be privy to the dark secrets of the Sykes family, which were only known to those inducted into the core at around 40 years of age.
Jessie was also frustrated. She was bored of staying in the ward and had just come to take a look. "You're Mrs. Foster, not Mrs. Johnson. Who do you think you are to boss me around? I haven't done anything to annoy you."
Hearing this, Bella got angry and rushed over to confront Jessie. Fortunately, they didn't use their needle-shooting skills and instead resorted to a more primitive form of fighting—pulling each other's hair.
"How dare you disrespect Margot?"
"I just did. What are you going to do about it?"
Jessie wasn't one to back down. If she had used her needle-shooting skill, no one in the room, except Cyrus, could handle her. Even Nicole wouldn't have been a match for Jessie.
Jessie had already reached the Rejuvenate Realm, the same level as Jordan.
Zoey saw the two almost tearing each other's hair out and said, "Stop it! Let's talk this out."
However, Cyrus found it amusing. Such scenes were never seen in the Hippocrates Sect. Life in the secular world was indeed interesting.
"Why are you laughing? Go and stop them," Zoey scolded him.
When Cecilia came upstairs for dinner, she was stunned by the scene. She muttered, "Oh my gosh, this is intense!"
She didn't intervene, instead joining Mira to watch and comment on the spectacle.
"Mira, who do you think will win?"
"Probably Bella."
"Why?"
"She seems taller," Mira replied.
Cyrus shouted, "Bella, let go!"
Bella, always obedient to Cyrus, immediately let go. Jessie followed suit.
Both of them usually pampered their hair with pricey treatments, so their hair always looked silky soft and well-groomed. But now, it was a tangled mess, just like a bird's nest.
Jessie scanned the room quickly and saw only hostile expressions. Then, she looked at Cyrus, and tears welled up in her eyes. Without a word, she quietly left the room.
Margot helped Bella fix her hair and asked, "Does it hurt?"
"No." Bella gave her a reassuring smile.
Zoey sidled up to Cyrus, rolling up her sleeves to help with the cooking. She asked in a low voice, "Honey, did Jessie do something bad?"
"Probably not, but being born into the Sykes family means she's tainted by association. Margot's husband suffered terribly, and Marshall probably doesn't want to live anymore," Cyrus replied.
"The Sykes family has many members. Whoever did wrong should take responsibility. It's not right to punish the entire family for the actions of a few," Zoey said.
"You're right, honey. I'll talk to Margot about it."
"You should take some food to Jessie later. She might not like the meals in the cafeteria," Zoey said as she put a few pieces of barbecue ribs into the lunch box.
During dinner, Margot seemed ill at ease and apologized to Zoey, "I'm sorry, Zoey. I shouldn't have been so rude earlier, shouting at a patient in your house."
"Margot, there's no need to apologize. We completely understand your feelings. Don't worry about it," Zoey said with a smile.
Zoey felt that neither Margot nor Jessie was at fault. The blame lay with the leaders of the Sykes family. However, due to their positions of power within the family, they were hard to hold accountable.
Cyrus, on the other hand, wasn't fazed by the commotion earlier. In fact, he secretly found it amusing.
He realized that all of them respected and heeded Zoey's advice, acknowledging her as his graceful and dignified wife.
After dinner, Cyrus took the lunch box downstairs to start Jessie's first treatment.
When he entered the ward, he found Jessie crying uncontrollably under the covers.
Sitting on the bed, he opened the lunch box and teased, "Abandoned by your family, huh?"
