Chapter 517
Feeling upset, Jordan worried he might lose his company instead of becoming the successor of the Sykes family.
The Sykes family was ruthless and only cared about interests. If he lost Jordan Pharmaceuticals, the Sykes family would make his life worse. Family bonds were just bullshit and useless now.
If he had known this would happen, he would never have listened to the Sykes family. His failed attempt to frame Cyrus, control Marshall, and force himself on Margot had backfired spectacularly. Jordan was also worried Cyrus would be completely agitated by their engagement in poison and venom.
Even though he didn't have a high status, Cyrus had the confidence to defend the justice of the medical world. His spirit was awe-inspiring.
Jordan was also unsure why Cyrus was so confident.
He sighed and glanced at Jason, Jorsproburgh's richest man. He could only put his hope on this scheming man now. Jordan was hoping he would keep his promise and not betray him at this critical moment.
Jason smiled brightly and said, "Mr. Hayes, I totally agree with Mrs. Sykes. Let's just vote directly. The shareholders will judge who should be the chairman of Jordan Pharmaceuticals."
"You're right, Mr. Xenos. The company is full of my close subordinates. The rise and fall of my century-old family business will depend on everyone," Jordan confidently replied.
"Don't be nervous, Mr. Hayes."
"I'm not nervous, not when I have your support, Mr. Xenos."
"Of course, you'll have my support." Jason forced a smile.
Ferdinand nervously announced, "Everyone, you can now start to vote for the chairman of Jordan Pharmaceuticals."
Apart from the Hayes family's 30 percent, Jason's 15 percent, and the 25.5 percent controlled by Margot, the remaining 30 percent belonged to retail investors who had suffered heavy losses.
"The voting for the small shareholders has ended. The major shareholders can vote on the spot or online," the secretary reminded.
Unhesitatingly, Ferdinand voted his brother Jordan as the chairman.
The cast of this 30 percent of the voting rights carried a lot of weight in the final results.
Margot, Nicole, and Neil voted for Margot as the chairman. Their combined 25.5 percent was also substantial.
"Mr. Xenos, you've been playing with your phone all the time. Have you voted yet?" Jordan asked.
Jason pushed his reading glasses up and nodded. "I clicked several times. It should be done."
"Let's start counting the votes." Jordan couldn't wait to see the results.
The volume of the Sykes family was three times larger than the other three families. Besides, Evelyn was personally present today.
Perhaps the small and medium shareholders would make use of the acquisition to increase the stock price. There was still a chance of winning.
Everyone tensed up. They were staring at the screen without blinking.
Margot also clenched her fists. She glanced at Cyrus, then at Jason. Jason was the key to victory today.
After all, without the 15 percent from Jason, Margot and the others didn't have enough shares to compete with Jordan.
In a flash, the voting result was revealed on the high-definition screen.
It was 41 percent for Jordan and 37 percent for Margot.
Seeing the result, Jordan jumped up in excitement and hugged Ferdinand.
"We won, haha!"
His heart was pounding. He wouldn't be able to withstand such a thrill again. Luckily, the result was a close call.
Jordan looked at Margot and then at Cyrus.
He sneered, "Cyrus Johnson doesn't deserve the reputation of medical genius. With the support of the Sykes family, the entire Jorsproburgh market will be mine.
"You only have the scented elixir pills. Consumers will grow tired of them."
Cyrus was still playing his game. He just smiled without saying a word.
"Mr. Hayes, usually, the voting rate is over 90 percent. Why is it only 78 percent today?" the secretary reluctantly reminded Jordan.
"The result is out. Stop your nonsense."
Jordan walked up to Jason and shook his hand tightly. "Thank you for your support, Mr. Xenos. I promise you'll make a fortune."
"Congratulations! However, it seems my vote didn't go through," Jason mumbled as he looked at his phone.
Jordan's smile froze on his face.
