Up until my third day of being detained, I still hadn't seen Cedric. According to regulations, immediate family members had to keep themselves away from the suspect. He wasn't even allowed near the detention block. I felt as if I had been abandoned by the whole world on a dark, isolated island. Then, in the early hours of the fourth day, the iron door of the detention cell suddenly opened. "Emily Sanders, someone is here to see you," the officer said. I thought it was my lawyer, or perhaps another interrogation. But when I walked out and looked through the glass wall of the visitation room, I saw a familiar figure. Cedric had lost weight.
