Chapter 148
ANDREA’S POV
Luca looked overwhelmed when we all crowded into the room. He was perched up against several pillows, the now half-empty tub of ice cream in his lap. Matteo was curled up next to him, sleeping. I guess I’d underestimated the toll Luca’s predicament would have on his twin.
Luca surveyed us as we walked in, and when his eyes landed on Kaela—the only stranger in the room—I was shocked when he smiled at her.
“Hi, Kaela,” he said, waving.
I was shocked that he knew her name, and I didn’t like how she smiled at him. “Hey, Sunshine,” she greeted him in return.
When she noticed our shocked expressions, she shrugged. “I’ve been in his head, of course the kid knows my name.”
I resisted the urge to rush to Luca and put myself between my baby and the witch.
Instead, I went to him with steady movements and sat next to him. Kade stood in front of me by the bed and gently squeezed Matteo’s shoulder.
