Chapter 17
Cyrene kept slapping his arm, but her strength was gradually weakening. Her struggles were growing smaller and smaller.
She couldn't make a sound, and her eyes rolled back into her head.
Seeing that she was really about to suffocate and pass out, Callum finally let go. However, the raging fire in his eyes was still there.
Cyrene coughed desperately, almost coughing out her lungs. Her face was full of relief; she was glad that she had escaped death.
After a long time, she slowly regained her breathing, and she started sobbing harder.
"Callum, you got it wrong. I never wanted to hurt you. I really didn't. I love you, but I had no choice. If I don't fight for the inheritance, I'll have nothing left. I'll end up on the streets. You don't want to see that happen, right?"
"Heh." Callum chuckled in despair. It was an agonizing sound, and one that surpassed tears.
