Alpha Lucas's POV
I glanced at my wristwatch and nodded. Darren was late. He was supposed to be here an hour ago, but here still waiting for him.
I returned to my desk and peered at some of the papers scattered on the table. None held what I needed to know. There were figures, names and places that didn't ring a bell and were filled with useless information.
I turned as the air changed. Darren was here. The door pushed open as he strode in, a blank look on his face. Pathetic.
“You're late, Darren. We agreed on noon, and you promised to be on time.”
“Something came up and I had to fix it before coming here.”
“Does it have to do with the car I told you to keep track of?”
He grunted, “No, I couldn't keep track with the car. They knew we were behind them and watching.”
“Excuses, Darren! Do you realize that was the only clue to know where it was going?”
“We could ask people in the pack. They hear things, Lucas.”
