Chapter 787 What Do You Want To Do Now?

Noticing her silence, he lifted his head and regarded her. Vickie pressed her lips tightly. Soon, she answered, “Yes, I have.” Gregory’s expression remained unchanged. However, there was a darkness in his gaze. “What’s your decision?” Vickie lowered her voice. “I admit that four years ago, we were fooled, but you ignored my plea and killed my brothers. I can’t pretend that this didn’t happen.” An unpleasant look started to appear on Gregory’s face. “Are you saying that you must go against me?” Vickie paused, then continued, “Last time, I always told myself that I have to seek vengeance against you as soon as I got out of prison since only by doing so will I bring justice to my brothers’ dead souls. “But now, I realize that it was all due to their greed. Early on, there were people who had already given up on the Vermillion Bird Organization. They met their end after joining the Chinese Association. “I will make them pay for what they did. However, as for what happened between us, Gregory Graham, I will not let it slide.” Gregory regarded her without saying another word. After Vickie finished her piece, she felt that she was too harsh and unforgiving. Still, the events that had happened in the last four years and the time when he had sent her to prison mercilessly haunted her. She could not just forget about everything and move on. Those incidents mattered a lot to her. thus she could not agree with Gregory’s request. A moment passed. Then, Gregory asked, “What do you want to do now?” What did she want to do? Vickie stared at him blankly. Honestly, she had never considered this subject. She had no idea what she wanted to do. She only knew that she could not go on like this. Silence befell the dining room again. Gregory picked up the chopsticks as if he had expected her reaction and said, “If you haven’t thought about it, let’s eat first.” He then began eating quietly. Since last night, Vickie had not eaten, hence she was already famished when she woke up that morning. By now, she stopped being shy and picked up a pair of chopsticks to eat as well. After breakfast, Gregory’s phone rang. He walked aside to answer it while Vickie remained seated. She watched as the maids cleared the leftover dishes. She also wanted to use this opportunity to explain to Gregory. However, she remembered that she did not have an answer to his previous question, so she shrugged it off. Then, she got up to leave. Gregory was standing aside and talking on the phone as if he did not notice her leaving. Nonetheless, when the woman headed outside, his lips curled into a smile. The weather was perfect and the sun shone brightly. After the meal, Vickie seemed to feel more relaxed and sleepiness crept up to her once more. Thus, she decided to return to her bedroom for a nap. By the time she woke up, it was already afternoon. Someone was knocking on the door aggressively. She frowned in displeasure and got dressed. As soon as she opened the door, she saw Yuliana standing at the doorway with a scowl. Vickie felt calm despite facing this “bosom friend” of Gregory’s. Although she was not used to the fact that there were all kinds of women by his side, she knew that, based on his high and mighty status, he would not normally be attracted to a regular woman. Yuliana must be of some use to him, which was why he kept her nearby. Was he doing so to piss Vickie off? Vickie looked at her coolly and asked, “What is it?” Yuliana shuddered slightly at the sight of Vickie’s hostility, but when she recalled her purpose of coming here, she held her head up high again. She puffed her chest out and tried her best to put on a haughty front. “My necklace is missing. Did you take it?” Vickie furrowed her brows. She was unsure what Yuliana was up to, but the necklace? She had not seen it. Therefore, she answered, “No.” Yuliana laughed coldly. “Do you think I’m gonna take your word for it? We are the only two who live in this building. The maids won’t dare to take it, so you’re the one who must have taken it.” As she accused Vickie, she cast the latter a disdainful gaze. “Tut tut, apart from that, you aren’t fit to live here judging by the way you dress. Gregory was just being kind and let you move in because he couldn’t stand to see you bumming around in the streets. Fair enough if you aren’t grateful, but to think you stole my belongings, have you no shame, Thomas?” Vickie’s expression hardened immediately. She glowered at Yuliana and said, “Miss Lynch, as another woman, I don’t wish to hit you, so I advise you to be careful with your choice of words!” Yuliana froze and felt scared. After all, she knew how proficient Vickie was in martial arts. Nonetheless, when she remembered that they were in the chateau which was Gregory’s territory, Vickie still had to be mindful of his image if she were to get into a fight. Before hitting a dog, one must consider its master first. Was that not right? When she thought of this, Yuliana felt a bit emboldened. She scoffed. “Admit it if you’re bold enough. Why? So, you’re allowed to steal, but I’m not allowed to say it out loud?” Vickie looked at her wanly as if she did not want to speak to her anymore. She turned around and held the door open. “Come in.” Yuliana was surprised and puzzled. At first, she assumed Vickie wanted to hit her and retreated instinctively. She displayed an alert expression as she demanded, “Why?” Vickie regarded her emotionlessly and replied, “Didn’t you accuse me of stealing your necklace? Come in and search for it yourself. It’s yours if you find it.” Then, she sat on the sofa and began minding her own business. Now, it was Yuliana’s turn to be hesitant. She did lose a necklace. When she came back yesterday after a sports game with Gregory, her necklace was gone. She always wore the necklace on her neck and it was not particularly valuable. Otherwise, when her ex-boyfriend had sold her off back then, those greedy human traffickers would not have let her keep it. However, the necklace was the only gift her late mother had left her, so she treasured it greatly. Yuliana stared at Vickie as those thoughts raced across her mind. She felt skeptical. On the other hand, Vickie seemed nonchalant and confident about her actions. Yuliana faltered and could not say anything else. The necklace was of utmost importance to her, and the maids were unable to access it. Assuming they had stolen it, the jewelry box in her room was filled with expensive pieces of jewelry Mr. Osborne had given to her. None of them had gone missing, except for the necklace. Evidently, whoever had stolen it was not out for money. If it was not for money, then it was out of spite. Throughout the chateau, the only people who used to have beef with her were Mr. Osborne and Vickie. Mr. Osborne was a caring and refined person. Furthermore, he was older and a man, so it was unlikely for him to think of such petty ways to bother her.
