Chapter 83 Her Ruthlessness
While Thaddeus was sobbing uncontrollably on his end, Danica wasn't faring any better at the Watson residence.
She knelt on the floor, the cold hardwood pressing painfully into her knees and leaving her unsteady. She had been like that for an hour. Even so, she didn't dare move. No one else was in the room, but she knew every movement she made was being watched.
Footsteps echoed outside before the door swung open. Patrick stepped in, his sharp gaze scanning her pale face, showing not a hint of pity.
Yet, he came closer and reached out a hand. "Get up. Sit."
He was the one who had ordered her to kneel, yet here he was, treating her with something almost like gentleness. To outsiders, he looked like a doting father who treated her like a treasure. But behind closed doors, he was the one who came down on her the hardest.
Danica's legs trembled as she struggled to stand. "Dad, I know I was wrong."
Patrick sank into his large chair, silent.
She pressed on, "Dad, I'll figure something
