No one would stand against her.
Terry Abigail would have to choke down this bitter humiliation alone.
“No... that’s not—” Terry Abigail’s eyes flared wide, disbelief shattering her usual poise. Ignoring the pain lancing through her body, she cried out,
“I didn’t fall on my own! It was Susan—she tripped me!”
But her protest only seemed to echo uselessly against the walls.
In the silence that followed, the truth hit her like a hammer.
No one had seen anything.
