Chapter 6
Kaia's eyes flicked to Selene crouched smugly on the threshold, and before I could say a word, she had stalked up the stone steps and shoved the older wolf hard in the chest.
Selene yelped, knocked off-balance by the force. Her designer heels skidded awkwardly on the polished marble, and she crashed backward against the front door with a graceless thud before sliding pathetically onto the floor.
"Watch your step, Luna," Kaia said dryly, nudging Selene's legs aside with the toe of her boot. She pushed open the double doors and looked back at me over her shoulder.
"Shall we?"
I didn't answer. I just walked.
“Dorothy Miller!” Selene screeched from the floor, thumping her fists against the doorway where she sat flailing like a collapsed marionette. “Help me up right now, or I swear by the Moon, I'll tell Alpha you let your trashy friend assault me!”
I stopped just inside the arching hallway of the Silver Creek house—not my home. It never had been. I turned my head slowly, meeting her eyes
