Elisa’s POV:
I relayed this information without reservation to Lucy and Mason.
Upon learning of their daughter’s ordeal over the past three years, Lucy covered her face in anguish, while Mason flew into a rage, desperate to rush to L.A. immediately to confront Everett.
But I stopped him.
Lucy, too, urged Mason to calm down.
Mason, his eyes red, demanded of me, “What reason could possibly make a father like me swallow this humiliation?”
I replied, “You know your daughter best. She is fiercely proud. She returned to you bearing all that pain, yet no matter how much you pressed her, she refused to open up. I believe she wasn’t just afraid of hurting you… she was also trying to preserve the last shred of dignity she had left for herself.”
“Even as parents, you must learn to preserve that dignity for your adult child. If she refuses to speak, it’s best you remain unaware.”
