Chapter 1701 I Cannot Even Sleep Properly
Ortwin and the three council elders quickly tucked the letter away and returned to the meeting hall.
“Is it done?” Regis asked weakly as he looked at them.
“Yes, It has been put away.” Ortwin returned to Regis.
“Good.” Regis exhaled a long breath, as if he’d accomplished something significant. “I’m exhausted! I’m finally able to get good sleep now.” As soon as the voice fell, Regis closed his eyes.
Everyone’s hearts almost jumped out of their throats as they stared at him.
Seconds ticked away, eventually becoming ten long minutes.
Finally, someone in the conference hall couldn’t help but cry. Ansel, Jules, and others had reddened eyes as well.
“Father!”
Finally, Ansel couldn’t contain himself and walked toward Regis with tears in his eyes. He knelt in front of his father with a thud, “Father, have a good journey!” After that, Ansel began to bawl. Others that were present also began to cry, whether out of sincerity or pretense.
Olympias stood at the side, staring stupidly at the motionless old man in the wheelchair. At this moment, her heart felt as if it had been pierced by a needle. The old man was still fishing for her in the pond the day before yesterday. Was it this quick for them to be separated by life and death?
“Grandpa!”
Olympias’s eyes welled up with tears as well. A single drop of tear rolled down her cheek and landed on Regis’ face.
Everyone in the conference room was crying at this point.
Regis, on the other hand, opened his eyes and stretched his back in the next second. He scolded, “What the hell are you guys up to?”
Ansel was still kneeling in front of him, sobbing uncontrollably. He was taken aback at this point, as were the other members of his core family.
The old man chastised, “I’m still alive! Because of you all, I can’t even sleep properly!”
Everyone was speechless.
“I’m a little tired, Girl! Push me back to the Regis Tower. Look at you! What’s the matter with you? Why are you crying too?”
Olympias were also perplexed. She wiped her tears away quickly and pushed Regis out the door.
***
At the same time, Tyr, as a guest of the White family, was not eligible to participate in this high-level meeting of the White family. He didn't do anything at all during his two days at the mansion. At the same time, his freedom was not restricted by the family. In any case, he was free to go wherever he wanted within the mansion.
This was the first time Tyr had come to the legendary Creed stronghold of the ancient martial arts world. As a result, he was fascinated by everything he saw. Tyr explored every corner of the White family because he had plenty of time to kill.
The family mansion was gigantic. To put it bluntly, it resembled a royal palace. It may not be possible to see everything in two days and two nights from the foot of the mountain to halfway up the mountain. There were many residences here at the same time. The White family’s high-ranking members had their own homes here too.
At this time, Tyr came to an area somewhere at the back of the mansion. There was an artificial grove here. All the trees planted in the woods were rare and precious.
A gust of wind blew from behind the trees when he arrived. In the breeze, there was an intoxicating scent. That fragrance was unique; just smelling it refreshed him greatly.
‘Elixir?’
That word came to Tyr’s mind at once. He’d never smelled anything like it before. Only legendary magical herbs and elixirs could emit such a unique scent.
Tyr had previously been exposed to elixirs and magical fruit on several occasions, but there were many plants similar to this in the ancient martial arts world. Each type of elixir had its own distinct scent. As a result, Tyr had no idea what kind of elixir it was.
‘I’ve heard that the Creeds had a method for planting and cultivating elixir for a long time, but I wasn’t expecting it to be true.’
Tyr was unconcerned. He followed the scent into the woods unconsciously. The woods weren’t particularly large. Tyr walked through the small patch of foliage in less than a minute.
A large area of farmland lay behind this forest. The majority of vegetable types grown on this farmland were of common variety. Although most vegetables had passed their season by now, Tyr could still see cabbages, radishes, and other vegetables that were only grown in the winter on this farmland.
Tyr was surprised to learn that someone in the White family worked on such a large vegetable farm.
On the other hand, he did not see the so-called elixir, but rather a man in his forties, standing in the vegetable plot with rolled-up trousers. Dressed in simple clothes, he watered and fertilized the vegetables in the field with a water scoop in his hand.
“Who’s there?”
Tyr was still quite a distance away from the man at this point, but the man’s perception seemed to be very strong. He locked his gaze onto Tyr almost immediately.
Without any intention to flee, Tyr approached him confidently. “My name is Tyr Summers. I have been invited to stay with the White family as a guest. I was just passing through and caught a whiff of the elixir. So, I came to see what was going on here out of curiosity. I hope you will forgive me if I disturb anything.”
“Oh, you are Tyr?” Tyr’s name appeared to be familiar to the man, and he showed no signs of hostility toward him.
“Are you here to visit the family alongside Oly?” he asked as he set down the water scoop and walked toward Tyr. Those who visit are our guests. Let’s go in. I’ll get you a glass of water.”
Tyr was startled, “May I know your name?”
The man replied with a smile, “I am Otes White, Oly’s fifth uncle.”
“Master Otes?” Tyr was caught off guard. To put it another way, this man was Regis’ fifth son.
“Master Otes, the White family’s patriarch held a meeting today,” Tyr said in astonishment.
“Every member of the White family is present there. Why didn’t you go for the meeting?” Tyr was perplexed, because if this Otes was truly a White family's master, he shouldn’t be missing out on today’s meeting.
“Today, my father summoned those people over there to rid the family of traitors, reward merits, and determine who will be his heir,” Otes explained with a smile. “It has nothing to do with me at all.”
“Nothing to do with you?” Tyr was puzzled.
At this time, Otes had already picked up the tools next to him and invited Tyr to a yard not far away. The yard was similar to that of a farmhouse in the Celestial Empire countryside, with a simple and unadorned cottage built beside the farmland.
Tyr detected a nice scent as soon as he entered the yard. He was almost intoxicated by the scent at this point.
